Privacy
Short version: no ad trackers, no analytics scripts, and no cookies that follow you around. Here's everything Fests keeps.
Counting visits
The site counts page views itself, on our own server. For each view it keeps the page, the site you came from (if any), a rough place from your connection (country, state, city), your network's name, what kind of device and browser, your language, and a scrambled code made from your connection and browser. That code is mixed with a random value that changes every day and is thrown out after two days, so it can tell "one person, three pages today" but can't be traced back to you afterward. Counts are kept about 13 months.
Your ZIP and location
If you type a ZIP, we remember it on your device for a year (a cookie called fests_zip) so the list starts there next time. "Forget this ZIP" on the list removes it. "Use my location" rounds your spot to about a mile in your browser before it's sent, uses it for that one search, and doesn't keep it.
Sending in a fest
What you type about the fest is saved so we can check it and list it. The email box is optional; if you fill it in, we keep it private and only use it to ask you about that fest. It's never shown on the site. To check a fest, we send its details (never your email) to Anthropic's Claude, which looks for it on the fest's own page.
Asking about ads
The advertising form keeps your business name, your name, your email and your message so we can answer you. Nothing else.
Mail to ads@fests.app or hello@fests.app is kept for a year, then deleted.
Sponsors
Paid spots are always labeled. When you click one, we count the click for that day. We don't keep who clicked.
Who runs it
Fests is run by Back Forty Local, LLC, and hosted on Cloudflare. The two forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out. We don't sell or share anything. Questions: hello@fests.app.
